Statement of Intent

06/09/23 L/O: to produce a concise and well-structured statement of intent for chosen brief Music Video With the music video, I intend to represent the class divide in favour of those who are less fortunate. In doing so, I fit the Forgotten Friends in with other alternative bands who are anti-establishment. One way in which to display this is through the divided environments. The 'rich/conservative' character will be displayed to be living a lifestyle in the countryside, where as the less fortunate character will be seen to be in an urban environment that is more 'rough'. The intertextuality will heavily imply that the 'rich' character is a member of the conservative party, which would be of interest to the upmarket media literate audience as they would have an interest in politics. In order to further display this divide, the urban environment would feature a desaturated colour palette, where as the rural area would utilise an incredibly saturated colour palett

L/O: to analyse codes and conventions in similar products Music Video 1: Cruise Control by Tomper https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fzS8T5zerM The entire video is shot with a reduced aspect ratio and has a distinct, high contrast, saturated colour palette which mimics older cameras, for example some outside shots are overexposed.  Narrative is expressed through visual language rather than the song itself. Woman is missing her partner.  MES: Wide shot of a dinner table and the woman sat at it. She is staring longingly at the clock and photographs on the wall. Editing: The shot then cuts to this POV close up shot of the wall, which gives the audience a clearer look at the props. MES - Clock: The presence of the clock implies that the partner is late home for dinner. Initial Ideas

  16-25 Middle to upmarket media literate audience Young adults with a good understanding of intertextual references and a lot of money to spend on entertainment.  Should attempt to include intertextual references where appropriate, as well as show rather than tell an audience the meaning you wish to get across.
