Music Video

Music Video Planning

1. The Fall by Forgotten Friends (Working Band Name). Anti-establishment, indie rock, leftist, stands up for the working class.
2. Song is a critique of the separation between upper classes and the lower classes, and the superiority complexes that those of wealthier heritage often feel.
3. Intention is for it to be mainly narrative based and display 'The Fall' of an upperclassman, display stark difference between luxury life and working class life. Critique families of money and represent the upper class with a lack of morals.
4. Areas around local town Bodmin, areas in the countryside, college studio
5. Suits, hoodie and jeans, fake money, fake knifes, tourism flyers, a car in motion (if possible)
6. Fairly low production values, unique/outside of the box, use of graphics (I'll try), green screened stuff.

Website Planning
1. Anti-establishment, contains behind the scenes of music video or unique content interviewing protagonists (undecided)
"Forgotten Friends are a group of childhood friends who formed a rock band. Fronted by Alex Bryant, the band's first EP,  'The Fall (A Marvellous View)' acts as a tour through 13 years of Conservative Britain. With 5 tracks, from the slow and string driven melodies of 'How Bad Could It Be' and 'I Guess We're Leaving' to the scream your hearts out tunes of 'Bye Bye May' and 'The Fall', there's something for everyone in these upcoming marvels."
2.
3. Home Page detailing general details of the band, EP page detailing process behind EP and contains behind the scenes footage of music video.
4. Home, Store, The EP, Tour, Merch
5. Behind the scenes 'interviewing' the actors and director on what they were aiming to achieve with the music video. Explains the thought process behind what occurs visually whilst also including references to Website visual design.
6. Photoshoot of band members with instruments, casual clothes, smiling, enjoying their music. Set in a garage?
7.

General Aim

Display the degradation of the main protagonist in a meaningful way that criticises the tories.

Protagonists

Older, white man in suit

Second protagonist display poverty

Highlight class difference to hit varying representations

Lyrics & Shots

“So leave those sink estates” - Wide shot of Estate Fair Park

“Let’s book a holiday” - Extreme close up of either tourism flyer or estate agent window

“We’re painting all the counties in blue” - A faceless character in a shirt quickly swapping a red clip on tie for a blue one.

“I LOOK TO ALL OF YOU AND SEE A DIFFERENT FUCKING SPECIES!” - Introduce mouth through distinctly separate window, play around with the graphics and angles throughout the speech, (Microphone perhaps) do not keep it static. Main window reflects current lyrics.

“CAUSE I’M SO HIGH MY BRAIN CAN’T EVEN LOOK AT THE FALL, WHEN YOU REACH THE TOP THERE’S NOWHERE ELSE TO GO BUUUUUT *catches breath* - When the protagonist catches their breath, display the protagonist falling over in front of the other protagonist.

“Marvellous view” - Sunrise or sunset from beacon (check feasibility)

Final Narrative

The music video's narrative lies with the pretentiousness of the protagonist, who truly believes that causing harm to those below him, seen in his treatment of the other protagonist who loses his house, is justified in order to win his place as the MP for Reset UK, a fictional party which is a riff of extreme right wing parties like Reform UK. The lower class protagonist is alone and homeless by the end of the narrative, indicated by him losing his house and the imagery of him sleeping rough with the protagonist walking over him at the end. The narrative comes to a head truly with the rant, where the upper-class protagonist is honest about his dislike of the lower classes, while the Vote Reset UK banner appears beneath him, he is showing his true colours in this rant, and regardless of his 'fall' he faces no repercussions and instead walks over the now homeless lower class protagonist.

Graphics flash across the screen to show his self-indulgence, whilst other graphics show the plight of the lower class individual. With the upper class protagonist it's all about 'me', not his policies which harm people.

Progress Update: 07/04/24

Graphics have been applied, music video has been fully edited. Need to shift some stuff around/play around with fonts.

Progress Update: 10/04/24
Found a good distinguishing font for everything and added some new graphics to everything in order to finish the look. I believe everything is finished.
